Grab a mirror (and your favourite dress)
Stand in front of the mirror in your underwear or a fitted top, nice and relaxed, so no holding your tummy in. Nobody's watching, promise. There are no right or wrong answers, every body shape is beautiful and the right shapewear simply shows it off even better.

The 4 body shapes and the shapewear that suits them
Most women see themselves in one of these four body shapes, sometimes with a little bit of a second one. Have a quick read through all of them and you'll know exactly what to look for when choosing shapewear.
Pear body shape (A shape)
With a pear shape, most of your weight sits around your hips, bottom and thighs. Your shoulders are narrower than your hips and your tummy is often fairly flat.
Shapewear that suits you
Go for shapewear shorts or bermuda shorts with legs that smooth your hips and thighs and hold your bottom nicely. Shaping leggings, a shaping skirt or shaping tights work well too.
Better not
High briefs without legs, because they don't cover the area you want to smooth. Many regular shaping briefs also end up too small over your bottom.
Styling tip
A push-up bra, a V-neck or a top with shoulder pads brings your upper body into balance with your hips.

Banana body shape (H shape)
Also called a straight or rectangle shape: your body is straight and athletic, with shoulders as wide as your hips. Your waist isn't clearly defined and you often carry a little extra weight around your middle.
Shapewear that suits you
The right shapewear lets you create feminine curves yourself. A shaping body, a (high waist) brief, a cami or a slip dress gently nips in your waist and gives your figure more shape.
Better not
Shapewear shorts with legs don't do much for you. Also watch out for briefs that dig into your waist, and choose a regular shaping brief or a high waist brief instead. Boy shorts are totally fine.

Apple body shape (O shape)
Full and round sums up your figure. Your weight sits mainly at the top and middle of your body, and you often have a little tummy and slim legs.
Shapewear that suits you
A high waist brief, a shaping body or a slip dress. They come up high enough to smooth your tummy and stay nicely in place.
Better not
Briefs that stop just below your belly button, because they will roll down and that's no fun at all. Always pick your briefs a little higher.
Styling tip
Show off your curves with a V-neck and fitted clothing, but skip very clingy fabrics.

Hourglass body shape (X shape)
Your body shape is nicely balanced. Your shoulders and hips are about the same width and you have a clearly defined waist.
Shapewear that suits you
Shapewear that follows your curves gives the best result, such as a body, a bodysuit, shorts or bermuda shorts.
Better not
Separate camis tend to ride up on you. Pay close attention to the fit of briefs, otherwise the fabric bunches at your waist or leaves room to spare.

How to get the most out of your shapewear
The right size
Choose shapewear in your usual clothing size, so not a size smaller. From S to 5XL, including our plus size collection. Not sure? Measure your waist and hips and compare them with the size chart on the product page.
Putting it on
Always step into your body, cami or slip dress, so start with your legs and never pull it over your head. Hold the fabric itself rather than just the edges, especially with a body or slip dress, and take off your rings and bracelets first.
Washing
Hand wash in lukewarm water (max. 30°C) with a little liquid detergent and don't wring. Prefer the machine? Use a delicate cycle, a laundry bag and max. 800 spins. No tumble dryer, radiator or fabric softener.
Frequently asked questions about shapewear and your body shape
How do I know which body shape I have?
Look in the mirror, relaxed, and check the ratio between your shoulders and hips, how defined your waist is and where extra weight lands first. With the quiz at the top of this page you'll know within a minute.
Which shapewear suits a pear body shape?
Shapewear shorts or bermuda shorts with legs that smooth your hips, bottom and thighs. High briefs without legs are less suitable. Read more about the pear shape.
Which shapewear suits an apple body shape?
A high waist brief, a shaping body or a slip dress. Briefs that stop just below your belly button roll down, so always choose a higher style. All about the apple shape.
Which shapewear suits a banana body shape?
A shaping body, a (high waist) brief, a cami or a slip dress. They make your waist more defined. Shorts with legs don't do much for this shape. All about the banana shape.
Which shapewear suits an hourglass body shape?
Shapewear that follows your curves, such as a body, bodysuit, shorts or bermuda shorts. Separate camis often ride up on an hourglass figure. All about the hourglass shape.
Should I buy shapewear a size smaller?
No, choose your usual clothing size. A size too small pinches, rolls down faster and wears out sooner. Want more shaping? Go for strong shaping shapewear instead.
How do I wash shapewear without it losing its stretch?
By hand in lukewarm water up to 30°C, or on a delicate cycle in a laundry bag at max. 800 spins. Don't use fabric softener or bleach and never tumble dry.
